Dr. Michael J. Gallagher
is a partner and Vice President of the radiation oncology
physician group, Radiation Medicine Associates of Scranton (RAMAS). He is Medical
Director of Sparta Cancer Center, Sparta, NJ, and Professional Radiation Oncology
Services (PROS), Poughkeepsie, NY. He has also served as president of Radiation
Medicine Associates of Orange County, NY, and Radiation Medicine Associates of Pike
County, PA.
A magna cum laude graduate of College of the Holy Cross, MA, he received his Doctor
of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University, OH, and his Master of
Business Administration degree with honors from Drexel University, PA.
Dr. Gallagher completed his internship in Radiation Oncology at Harvard University,
MA, and trained as a Fellow in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. He
completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania and received additional training at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Dr. Gallagher is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology and Medical
Oncology and is Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology. He is a Fellow in the American
College of Radiation Oncology and American College of Physicians. He serves on staff
at 10 hospitals in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
He has been a Principal Investigator for national cancer clinical research trials through
the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.
Since 1987 he has provided leadership for RTOG community clinical research
programs in PA, NY, and NJ, receiving highest national recognition for quality assurance
management for these research studies. He also served as national chairman of
the RTOG Quality Assurance Program.
In addition, Dr. Gallagher has participated in National Cancer Institute community clinical
research studies through the Mid-Atlantic Oncology Program, Community Clinical
Oncology Program, National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, and the
Cancer and Leukemia Group.
Dr. Gallagher completed the Executive Leadership program at Harvard University and
has pioneered the development of cancer treatment centers in PA, NY, and NJ. He
also has expertise in medical informatics management and in advanced computerized
techniques in radiation oncology treatment.
